Almond Puff

Title: ALMOND PUFF

1 c Margarine or butter
1 tb Margarine or butter
2 c Sifted flour
2 tb Almond extract
3 ea Eggs
2 c Confectioner's sugar
1 c Sliced almonds
Cut 1/2C margarine into 1C flour until mixture resembles coarse meal;
add 2T cold water and mix with a fork until well-blended. Divide
dough in half. Squeeze each roll between your hands until you form a
8-10 inch "snake". Place "snakes" on an ungreased cookie sheet and
pat into 2 rectanges about 2-3 inches wide and the width of the
cookie sheet.
Place 1 cup of water and 1/2C of margarine in a saucepan. Bring to a
boil and remove from heat.Add 1T almond flavoring. Stir in 1C of
flour. Add eggs, one at a time mixing until each one is mixed in
well. Spread over pastry rectangles, smoothing the top.
Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Allow to cool.
Combine 1T margarine with confectioner's sugar, 1T almond flavoring
and enough warm water to make spreadable. Frost pastry and sprinkle
with sliced almonds (lots!). Cut into slices.
