Peanut Butter Cookies

1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown Sugar -- firmly packed
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Thoroughly cream butter, peanut butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Sift together
dry ingredients; blend into creamed mixture.

Shape into 1-inch balls; roll in granulated sugar. Place 2 inches apart on
ungreased cookie sheet. Press 5 peanut halves atop each or crisscross with for

tines.

Bake at 375F for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool slightly; remove from pan.

Makes 8 dozen.
