1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 egg -- separated
1 cup flour
1/2 cup nuts -- chopped

Combine brown sugar, butter, egg yolk and flour. Mix well.

Shape dough into small balls. Beat egg white. Roll each hall in egg white, then
in chopped nuts and place on ungreased cookie sheet Preheat oven to 400 degree
s and bake 2 minutes. Remove from oven and push thumb in each ball, then bake a
pproximately 2 more minutes. Garnish with icing, maraschino cherries, or chocol
ate kisses.
