1 c Corn-meal 1 ts Salt
2 tb Brown sugar 1 ts Baking powder
3/4 ts Baking soda 1/4 c Melted shortening
2 Eggs, well beaten 1 1/2 c Sour milk
1 c Flour
Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, salt, and baking powder.
Mix with corn-meal. Combine shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add sour milk and
combine with dry ingredients. Beat only until smooth. Fill well-oiled
shallow pan 2/3 full. Bake in hot oven (435ø F) 25-30 minutes. 8 servings.
