Katherine Helmond's Wheat Germ Corn Bread

Title: KATHERINE HELMOND'S WHEAT GERM CORN BREAD

1 c Whole wheat flour
1 c Wheat germ
1 c Stone ground cornmeal
1/3 c Brown sugar or honey
5 ts Baking powder
1 ts Salt
3 lg Egg
1 1/2 c Raw milk
1/3 c Margarine; melted
Sesame seeds
Mix all the dry ingredients together. Beat eggs; combine with rest of
wet ingredients, just until they are mixed. Pour batter in greased 9x13
inch baking pan. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in preheated 350 degree
oven about 45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted
into loaf. Cool slightly on wire rack before cutting. Makes 1 loaf.
Some nice additions: For flavor and texture, add sunflower seeds,
raisins, dried fruit (dates, apricots). Or for an accompaniment to fish or
fowl, use thyme or sage. Add grated cheddar for protein.
