Cheesy Garlic Bread

1 loaf French bread
8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
6 ounces Swiss cheese -- sliced

Garlic Butter:
1/4 cup butter or margarine -- softened
2 cloves garlic -- minced
Slice the loaf in half length-wise. Spread the garlic butter evenly across
both halves. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Slice the Swiss cheese in half
and place strips length-wise on top of bread.
Place bread on a baking sheet and broil about 6 inches from burner until
cheese is golden and bubbling.
Garlic Butter:
Combine butter or margaine and garlic cloves. Store in a covered jar in
the refrigerator. Let stand at room temperature before using.
