Ham and Cheese Bugles

8 slices white sandwich bread (4"x4")
1 cup minced onion
1 cup spreadable sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
freshly ground pepper -- to taste
30 thin slices ham
cellophane-tipped toothpicks
Toast the white bread. Trim off the crusts.
Combine the minced onion with the cheddar cheese. Add the celery seed and
pepper and mix well.
Spread the mixture generously on the toasted bread slices. Slice the bread
into 1-inch-wide strips. Trim the ham slices to fit the length of the bread
strips. Roll a thin ham slice around each bread strip and fasten with a
cellophane-tipped toothpick. Refrigerate until serving time. Makes 30.
